House in Estoril

The project draws on the memory of the existing structure—reduced to its surrounding facades—to make way for a completely redesigned new building. The new steel-and-concrete structure reorganizes the old spaces and the new living area, where structural precision coexists with a high degree of formal and spatial complexity.

The house is organized across three floors, based on a clear distinction between different atmospheres. The original structure houses the private areas—bedrooms and personal workspaces—ensuring a more intimate and introspective living experience. In contrast, the addition introduces a new, open, and continuous social level that engages directly with the garden and the pool, whose water surface enhances the light and sensory dimension of the outdoor space.

The project stands out for its high level of detail and handcrafted workmanship, where rounded forms and exceptional design solutions place high demands on everyone involved. Carpentry plays a central role here, putting the precision of woodworking, metalwork, and the ability to execute the project to the test.

The interior staircase, with its sculptural character and spiral shape, is one of the house’s most striking features. Constructed with a metal framework clad in natural wood veneer and carpeted steps, it forms a seamless transition between technique and material.

The materials are diverse and carefully selected, incorporating rare natural stones set with precision, which lend an air of nobility and elegance. The diversity of colors and materials is intentional, reinforcing the idea of an architecture where nothing is left to chance.

The result is a home experienced as a sequence of spatial experiences, almost like a lived-in gallery, where each space creates its own atmosphere. Living in this home means moving through different intensities of light, material, and scale—a holistic architecture, designed to accompany everyday life in all its fullness.
